I am thinking about leasing some extra land for next years new strawberry planting.  Much of the good land that I can get my hands has had corn planted on it this year.  Do you know if I need to worry about atrazine residue in the soil?
Thanks

Atrizine can be a problem for Strawberries when used at full rate the year before planting. It is always a good idea to check pesticide labels for plant back restrictions.
We use Atrizine at 1/2-3/4 rate in the year prior to planting with out much problem. I would check the actual rates applied and look out for other materials like Command.
You could also plant a cover crop, build up the soil and plant the following year.
